Major and Minor Services

Minor Car Service

Minor doesn’t imply that this car service is any less important than a major service. Instead it infers that this essential service is relatively quick – preventing unnecessary wear, failure, and damage to your vehicles major parts. Minor service intervals occur more frequently than major services, and will vary according to a vehicle’s make, model, and manufacturer guidelines.

What can you expect in a minor service? Mechanical staff will change the engine oil and filter, and then check the following:
  • Brakes
  • Exhaust and transmission
  • Engine belt, filters, and hoses
  • Suspension and steering
  • Lights
  • Tyres and tyre pressure
  • Windscreen wipers
  • Battery
  • Top up other fluids and oils to keep the car running in tip-top condition!
  • The service book will be stamped accordingly and a vehicle inspection report handed to the customer.

Major Car Service

Like the minor service, a major service is designed to extend a vehicle’s engine life and performance. A major service, however, is more thorough.

The technician will go through the same checks as for a minor service, do an engine oil and filter change, and then inspect:
  • Exhaust, brakes, steering and transmission
  • Engine belts and external hoses
  • Lights
  • Tyres and tyre pressure
  • Battery
  • Windscreen wipers
  • The cooling system and coolant
  • Brake fluid
  • Replace spark plugs
  • Inspect air and fuel filters
  • Perform an engine flush treatment
  • The technician will complete a full vehicle inspection report and stamp the customer’s service book.
  • Check differential and transfer case oils
